Welcome Everyone to the 2024/25 U7 Season!
My name is Nick McGregor and I am the U7 Director/Development Coordinator this year. I plan
on being on the ice for the first couple of sessions but I am looking for some volunteers to take the lead for the rest of the regular season for both the Black Group and the Gold Group. No previous experience is necessary and a basic outline of practice plans will be provided if you like. This will be the third season for the FUN FIRST PROGRAM here in Sherwood. FUN FIRST is a strong focus on making sure that all of the players at the U7 level thoroughly enjoy their first years of hockey and hopefully develop a lifelong love of the game. The Gold Group consists of 4 & 5-year-olds while the Black Group will be mostly 6-year-olds. We may be moving some players around based on abilities and overall numbers so that everyone has the best experience possible. For the 4 & 5-year-old group (Gold Group), parents are more than welcome to come on the ice for the entire season with the kids and help them to enjoy the beginnings of their minor hockey careers. For the younger kids, it is most important to have fun as they learn the basics and I feel that this is best accomplished with lots of support from a family member on the ice.
If you plan on being on the ice this season the requirements are as follows:
Please email Tammy Callaghan to get your letter and to register for the RIS Course.
tlcallaghan19@gmail.com
So, if you plan on coming on the ice this season please get your criminal record check, RIS course, dust off your skates, helmets, gloves, stick and a bring along a positive, encouraging attitude!
Thanks and see you out there!
