A Call for Expressions of Interest for Coaches for our 2023-24 Season!

 

Hey you! Yes, I am talking to you. Are you on the fence about coaching? Maybe you’re a parent. Maybe you are a former player looking to get back into the game. Maybe you’re a current player looking to help out with a younger team. We need you to step up and let us know you are interested.

 

Every year we struggle and scramble to get coaches at almost all levels of female hockey in our association.

 

There are a million reasons why you might be shy to put your name forward. Perhaps the following sound familiar…

 

• “My child is trying out for a competitive team, and I don’t want to hurt my child’s chances by putting forward my name to coach an A team.”

 

• “I have multiple kids on multiple teams.”

 

• “No time”

 

• “No experience”

 

• “Someone else will do it.”

 

This is a simple call for interest so that we can act quickly and check back with you for confirmation once tryouts for Central Storm/Eastern Star teams are completed. We can assure you it won’t affect your child’s tryout process. We just want to know if you are interested in possibly coaching. If everyone thinks someone else is going to do it, then nobody does it! Minor hockey relies on its volunteers. We need you!

 

So, we are doing something different this year in Capital District. We are simply asking for you to give us an expression of interest in coaching any of our teams to be hosted in Capital District this season. Here is what we anticipate, based on projected numbers from last year:

 

U18A: 1-2 teams

U15A: 1 team

U13A: 1-2 teams

U11A: 2-3 teams

U9A: 2 teams

We just want to compile a list so that we can move quickly and not have to scramble for coaches as teams are made.

 

It’s time to get out of the stands and volunteer.
