Hockey PEI - Provincial Championship Memo
2021-01-17Please see the memo regarding the planning of the 2020-2021 Provincial Tournaments. All championships will be spread across two weekends to ensure all CPHO guidelines can be followed.
Hockey PEI is pleased to announce that initial steps have been taken to host our Provincial Championships for the 2020-2021 season. As our volunteer-based organization is aware, planning events in today’s pandemic world is daunting. However, it is Hockey PEI’s intention to host these Championships in a safe manner under all CPHO guidelines. The dates of our Provincial weekends will be March 19-21 and 26-28.

Hockey PEI is pleased to announce that initial steps have been taken to host our Provincial Championships for the 2020-2021 season. As our volunteer-based organization is aware, planning events in today’s pandemic world is daunting. However, it is Hockey PEI’s intention to host these Championships in a safe manner under all CPHO guidelines. The dates of our Provincial weekends will be March 19-21 and 26-28.
The following adjustments will be made for this season:
- All tournament format Championships will take place across two weekends to ensure all CPHO guidelines are being followed, including teams and players only being able to play one game a day. Associations are encouraged to host a division on back-to-back weekends. Grant Applications will include an extra 15 minutes of ice time at each age category. This step is being included in both Host Application Forms to ensure that the maximum number of spectators that guidelines permit can enter and exit the facility between games.
- Host locations will be expected to live stream games via the internet. This is also reflected in the Grant Applications and is also being carried out with the intention of providing as many people as possible the opportunity to view the games.
- Hockey PEI will also continue to work closely with CPHO and will incorporate any new restrictions in place during the Provincial Championship Weekends. If you have any further questions, please contact the office at info@hockeypei.com or (902)-368-4334.
