***IMPORTANT NOTICE*** Return to Hockey

2020-12-17

Good afternoon

The Cheif Public Health Office announced today the return of recreational and organized sports. With this being said, organized gatherings may resume with a maximum of 50 people plus a second cohort of 50 if there is an approved operational plan. Therefore, we have received the following statements from both Cody Banks and Cari Arenas. It appears that we have moved back to "no spectator zones" until at least January 11. Only 2 - 50 on-ice (player/coach/referee/trainer/COVID Liaison) cohorts are permitted at this time. This means the teams on the ice and the teams coming afterwards. Parents are permitted during practice times, as long as the 50 person cohort is not exceeded.

Please continue to follow the guidelines and protocols that remain in place.

Contract Tracing
Wearing your mask
Washing your hand
Don't exceed the 50 on-ice cohorts.
Follow facility guidelines around the arrival times

Hopefully, if all goes well between now and Jan 11th, spectators will be permitted into the rinks.

Thank you

Cody Banks Arena & Simmons Sports Centre User Groups,

Based on today’s announcement by the Chief Public Health Office (CPHO), Cody Banks Arena and Simmons Sports Centre will be reopening effective tomorrow Friday, Dec 18 at 8 am.  All ice times starting at 8 am tomorrow have been added back to the schedule.  I will assume all users will be using their allotted ice times unless I hear from you with a cancellation.  Please contact me ASAP if planning to cancel.

Cody Banks received confirmation from the CPHO (although not stated in the press conference) that all arenas must reduce their operational plans to a maximum of 2 cohorts of 50 until at least January 11.  This means that Cody Banks Arena and Simmons will have no spectator zones (Zone 3 & Zone 4) until at least January 11.  The two cohorts at both Cody Banks and Simmons will consist of one cohort of 50 on the ice (Zone 1) and one cohort of 50 getting dressed to go on the ice (Zone 2).  This is consistent with how we opened the rinks in September and will have no effect on users who did not use the spectator zones.

All other protocols prior to the circuit breaker remain in place.  The CPHO highlighted the importance of all user groups being diligent regarding contact tracing.  Please ensure your group is contact tracing appropriately.  A reminder of other protocols listed below.

Arrive 15 minutes prior to your allotted ice time and depart within 15 minutes of the competition of your ice time.
Non-medical masks are mandatory at all times except when on ice.
User groups must screen each individual who enters the building and ensure they do not enter the building if showing any symptoms of COVID-19 or feeling ill.
User groups must track each individual who enters the building (per ice time) for contact tracing purposes.  Names and their contact information must be kept for a minimum of 30 days.

Cari Arena

We've received further clarification from CPHO regarding the "post circuit breaker" restrictions on our facility. Starting tomorrow and going forward until January 11th,  2021, the MacLauchlan Arenas are down to 2 cohorts per ice pad - The cohort on the ice and the next ice cohort in the dressing rooms. This means there will be no spectator groups allowed. Each booking will be permitted one "ice cohort" of 50. How the booking group wants to make up that cohort is up to them but it can not exceed 50 people, must be prescreened/contact traced and everyone must enter and exit together. Groups still must arrive no sooner than 15 minutes prior to an ice time and be out 15 minutes after.

The MacLauchlan Arenas will open back up tomorrow, Friday, December 18th at 4:00 pm. All ice times that were previously booked for this weekend will be reentered into the schedule please let me know ASAP of any times your organization will not be using.
