Simmons Sports Arena - Spectator Zone 3 Approval

2020-10-22

We are happy to announce, the Chief Public Health Office (CPHO) has approved Simmons Arena for the third cohort of 50 (Zone 3) for spectators effective Friday, Oct 22nd.

This means SPRMHA will allow one (1) parent/guardian per player for all games. This includes the visiting team. (Example: Pownal 18 Players, Sherwood 18 players, therefore a total of 36 parents/guardians permitted in Zone 3)

Note: Single-family parent/guardian can request special access for siblings through your team COVID Liaison. (there will be limited access)

The following guidelines MUST be followed for a user group to use the additional cohort of 50 (Zone 3).
  • Each ice time will be assigned Zone 1 or Zone 2 plus Zone 3 for spectators if needed.  This means that each ice time can have a maximum of 2 cohorts of 50 for a total of 100 people per ice time.  A user groups assigned Zone (1 or 2) will be for the first cohort of 50 that includes skaters, coaches, referees, timekeepers etc.  The 2nd cohort of 50, in Zone 3, will be for spectators.
  • Any ice time using Zone 3 MUST have a volunteer who will ensure Zone 3 never interacts with Zone 1 or Zone 2 at any time while in the arena especially when entering and exiting the building.
  • Zone 3 spectators MUST enter and exit the main entrance through Zone 1 and remain in Zone 3 for the entirety of their scheduled ice time.
  • Zone 3 spectators may only enter the arena at the start time of the ice time they are viewing (not 5, 10 or 15 minutes prior to ice time).  The Zone 3 volunteer MUST ensure the users occupying Zone 1 are on the ice surface or in the dressing rooms prior to allowing the spectators to enter the arena.  Zone 3 spectators MUST walk directly to Zone 3 in the stands upon entering the arena without interacting with anyone in Zone 1.
  • Zone 3 spectators must exit the arena immediately after their child’s/team’s assigned ice time is complete once Zone 1 is clear.  The Zone 3 volunteer MUST ensure users occupying Zone 1 are in the dressing rooms before allowing the spectators to exit the stands through Zone 1.  Zone 3 spectators MUST walk directly out the main exit of the arena without interacting with anyone in Zone 1.  Absolutely no loitering or waiting in the arena for your child after the ice time is complete.
  • Any user group accessing Zone 3 MUST track each individual who enters Zone 3 for contact tracing purposes.  Names and phone numbers must be kept for a minimum of 30 days.
  • Zone 3 MUST use the washroom in the Zamboni area at the score clock end of the arena.  Only one person may access the washroom at one time.  It is highly recommended that the washroom only be used in emergency situations by Zone 3.  The public washrooms located next to the staff office cannot be used by Zone 3.
  • Seating for Zone 3 will be marked with decals in order to maintain social distancing.
  • It is strongly recommended that non-medical masks be worn at all times if social distancing is not possible.
  • It is imperative that each group who access Zone 3 follow the guidelines set forth so that all user groups have an equal opportunity to access to Zone 3 throughout the day.
  • Please note that any user group who are deemed in breach of the Zone 3 guidelines will have their access to Zone 3 revoked.

We ask that everyone abide by the guidelines set forth for the Spectator Zone. We don't want to lose this opportunity and hopefully, we will see another zone open up to allow for more spectators.

We ask that all parents/guardians review the Simmons Arena Spectator Guidelines and Floor Plan, by visiting our COVID19 information page.
